- A kurúr is an antiquated monetary unit used in Iran and India. In Iran it is equal to five hundred thousand tumáns. But in India one kurúr is ten million. For two and a half million tumans (five kurúrs), one "can't even buy a descent car in Iran for that amount", but in the Qájár's time this was an extravagant sum of money. It was unheard of!...Even though the word "kurúr", does not have much value in present day, it has kept its value well in old Persian books!" (thanks to Arash Zare)
